- Overview
Synopsis
Arinze, a single father with no formal education, wages a quiet war against poverty and fate. His greatest ambition isn’t for himself, but for his daughter, Winifred, to give her the education he never had, and a life far from the hard concrete floor he kneels on every day.
Winifred, fiercely intelligent and grounded, grows up splitting her time between classrooms and carburetors, never ashamed of where she comes from. Her father’s workshop becomes both her happy place, and she holds his sacrifices close to her heart as she works hard to become something more.
By Arinze’s side is his closest friend Tijani, another mechanic whose own son, Jamil, wasn’t as lucky. With no means to send Jamil to school, Tijani can only watch as his son dreams quietly of a different future. Jamil, gentle and sharp-minded, harbors deep feelings for Winifred, whose presence in the workshop is both a comfort and a reminder of everything he longs for.
But when Amaka, Winifred’s flashy, social-media-obsessed school friend begins visiting the workshop, a new kind of tension sparks. Drawn to Jamil’s quiet strength and rugged charm, Amaka begins to flirt with him, only to stir up a triangle she doesn’t fully understand. Jamil, captivated by Amaka’s boldness and allure, finds himself torn.
As Winifred’s graduation draws near, so do the cracks in everything that once felt certain. Jamil’s affection for her becomes harder to hide, even as he finds himself momentarily swept up by Amaka’s attention. What begins as casual flirtation from Amaka turns into something deeper, perhaps even desperate, as she starts visiting the workshop more frequently, not just to see Winifred, but Jamil.
The drama unfolds through Arinze’s pride as his daughter, Winifred, rises above their struggles, set against the poignant contrast of Tijani’s regret at being unable to provide the same opportunity for his son, Jamil. At the heart of it all is a love triangle, Winifred, Jamil, and Amaka, each navigating the complexities of affection, envy, and unspoken longing.
