Synopsis
Trouble, they say, comes in different packages and for three struggling young men in Lagos, trouble came wrapped in the walls of a cheap, crumbling three bedroom apartment. At first, the biggest challenge seemed to be the leaky pipes, broken doors, and a caretaker who treated every complaint like background noise.
With the house falling apart, the landlord is nowhere to be found, What they are left with is a lousy caretaker, she is everything but nice. But as the days tick by, chaos begins to brew within the walls of their so called safe haven.
Lanre, the supposed “broke handyman” with a hot temper but easy smile, swears he only brought everyone together because rent was too much to bear alone. Ebuka, a flashy Igbo small business owner, hides his loud, troublesome nature behind fake humility until his true colors explode in full display.
And then there’s Kweku, the quiet Ghanaian housemate who just wants to meditate his way out of every fight, but somehow always gets dragged into the madness. Their fragile balance shatters when Ebuka casually invites a friend to the house. What was already a circus of egos and dysfunction quickly spirals into disaster when the friend is found dead in his sleep.
In a flash, their noisy apartment becomes a crime scene, and the three men find themselves locked up in a Lagos police cell, trading accusations and unearthing each other’s dirtiest secrets. Suspicion runs wild, tempers flare, and every bond of trust is broken until an autopsy report finally clears them: the friend had overdosed. Relieved but battered, the men return home only to have the final bombshell dropped by their smug caretaker: “Ask your landlord.” Suddenly, the masks fall away.
Lanre, the so called broke handyman, is no squatter at all he’s the true landlord of the house, the builder of the very walls they’ve been fighting over, hiding behind a lie to avoid loneliness and extra expenses of renting his own house What follows is an uproar of betrayal, bruised egos, and reluctant laughter as the roommates are forced to confront their lies.
